Orientation

Law school has now started. Today was the first day of 1L orientation and tomorrow we have another half day before starting real class on Thursday. The highlights of the day were meeting my fellow students, mentors, and instructors. It seems like I stumbled into a situation where the faculty, staff, and student body really care about supporting one another.

Not much law covered today; just tips and procedures to help us be successful. This evening we were to dress up for a Student Oath Ceremony and I found my wardrobe to be woefully underfunded. Fortunately, my mother-in-law took pity with a new blazer and trousers for the occasion, and I thought I looked pretty sharp after the upgrade.

Seems like my social agenda may have gotten a little more full now that law school has started. Between the Student Bar Association and the football tailgating, which is apparently strongly encouraged by members of the law school, I will have no trouble finding outlets for mingling with my fellow students.

I expect the remainder of orientation to be rather uneventful, but look forward to discussing how class goes on a weekly basis, which begins Thursday. Until then reading and relaxation are my main goals.
